New Artist Release Coming Soon & BLOG CANDY!!

*** THIS DRAW HAS NOW CLOSED ***

See THIS POST for the winner!

My fabulous friend Susana at SCACD has a new release coming soon, featuring a brand new artist!  You will have to wait until release day on 29th October to find out all the details, but I can tell you that this new to the scene artist is fantastic!  She illustrates in a range of styles, and her work is truly beautiful.

Susana is calling this first collection "Reflections", which I think is a lovely and very fitting name.

There are SEVEN gorgeous stamps, and as usual there will be a full collection sheet with a couple of bonus freebie stamps.  AND even better, for the first time, the collection sheet will be available in the UK from Quixotic Paperie!

There will be a big blog hop on Friday October 29th, featuring the SCACD DT and the Quixotic Paperie DT, along with some fantastic special guests!  I'm very excited to see what everyone has done with the stamps, and I can't wait to share my make with you all.  There will be some fab prizes along the hop too, so make sure you pop the date in your diaries and play along.

In the meantime, you've got a chance to win some candy! Actually, you have a few chances...

Firstly, I have ONE full sheet of the new release collection to give away here on this blog.  To win, all you need to do is answer the following question in the comments on this post (one entry per person please).

Q: When you feel like your creative mojo has gone wandering, what helps to bring it back?  What do you find helps you most to be creative?

Answers by 8pm UK time on Thursday 28th October 2010.  I will draw a winner and announce shortly after that time.

Once you've done that, pop on over to Susana's SCACD Store Blog and answer her question, she's giving away FOUR sheets of the new collection AND a 20% off coupon for Storage Units Ink and More!

And, make sure you take a peek at Susana's Store Blog on Sunday for a little sneak peek at the new release.

Have a fabulous weekend, and good luck!

  4. What helps bring my Mojo back - take the next challenge for one of those that I do regularly & just start, my brain starts to work with what I have in my hands - if it doesn't work out then I've learnt something in the process.

  6. to be honest, when my mojo runs away I find it best to take a break from crafting. A few days to clear the head seems to work wonders.

  12. Hi Elaine! That is a very good question, I will try to explain what I do when I feel my mojo has left me. I don't try to relax, or listen to music, or take a walk, what I actually do, is just try to imagine I'm making a card for a special person and just when I think about that person I feel more motivation, or sometimes I just look at the image and see the image or the scene in the image reminds me of, say a scene from a book or movie that I like a lot and I feel more motivated to make a card, to make a good card. I don't know how good is my explanation, but that's what I do. Weird? Maybe, but it helps, it brings the mojo back and I usually end up being very happy with how the card has turned up.
Thanks for a chance to win! :)

  14. Well, like most folk, when Mr Mojo packs his bags and goes on holiday, I tend to go and check out all my favourite blogs and gather some inspiration. There's so many extremely talented crafters living in blog land, I'm never ceased to be inspired.
Although, having some new rubber does make me feel more inclined to get inky!

    Love Elaine xx

  16. I find that working in black and white with a sketch helps no end. I usually find that the card either works our really well, or I get an over powering urge to add some colour, and voila! The mojo's up and running again!

Thanks for your generosity Elaine, can't wait to see the new release.

  22. I have done crafts all of my life, but I am new to scrapbooking. I am the mother of 5 and the grandmother of 5. My daughter-in-law has got me in to the world of scrapbooking. My mojo leaves when she leaves. To get my mojo back I look at the pictures of my children when they were little and the pictures of my grandchildren. From there I just have to pick out a couple pictures, then a layout,
colours, etc. This is the first time that I have been at your website and I like it alot. Thank you for the opportunity for entering the contest.
    Thanks again,

  26. Hi, When my mojo is missing it is usually because I feel a need for something physical. There's nothing like dusting and vacuuming, or cleaning out a closet, to clear the air, and it gives a feeling of accomplishment. Then I can go and enjoy my creating. Thanks for sharing.

  27. The thing that helps me the most is that I get on my computer and look up tons of sites and look at what everyone else has created. Of course I usually stay too long on the computer looking at all the beautiful creations that everyone has done and then it is too late for me to start anything that day but it does give me tons of ideas. I am so happy that these sites are available to all of us.....

  28. I wander around the blogs until I find it again. ;D Seeing perfectly colored image, with great colors, shading and attention to details will always get me motivated. Coloring is my favorite part but a good layout will catch my attention too.

I have to admit all these things, blog hopping, shopping, walks and rummaging around in my stash inspire me but the best thing is new rubba!!!! I just love stamping an image for the first time on copy paper and trying out different colour combinations and shading techniques, stamping part of the image, paper piecing, it's simply luverrly fun.

  42. Hey elaine thanks so much for the awesome competition, Im not used to writing on blogs as Im also really new to this lol so i hope it goes up alright.

When my creativity for card making is on a low sometimes I can go for 3 days to a week without making anything, when this happens very often I find my remedy in my pictures of family, memories of events and time we spent together that has happened for example christmas's and birthdays gives me the energy to think I'll make a card like this because its similar to the pattern of the shirt my dad was wearing.

so then I might use some basic grey paper with a male character stamp do some paper piecing and my card energy is pretty much back to normal as once i start one i have to do another and another. :)

thanks again so much email x kate

  45. Hi Elaine

I do a "lucky dip" Close my eyes and pull out a couple of random craft items and make myself make something from them - sometimes it works, sometimes it looks like a 2 year old let loose with the craft stash! Either way usually works - if it works I pat myself on the back, if it doesn't I tell myself off and do something better ;-)

Ideas and sketches from magazines and blogs are a good way to get me thinking again, or I'll just stamp up and colour some images with no real plans for what to do them - I just find it quite theraputic and relaxing, and ideas seem to follow in their own good time!
